The A-10 Warthog is a ground attack aircraft of the Global Defense Initiative and it can be only called in via airstrikes.

Appearance

The A-10 Warthog is equipped with 2 wings on the side, 2 jet engines attached near its back and two stabilizers on the back. The missile launchers and the cannons are attached below its wings.

Damage Table

GAU-8/A Cannon

Base Damage Headshot Multiplier Kevlar Armor Multiplier Flak Armor Multiplier Lazarus Armor Multiplier Heavy Armor Multiplier Light Armor Multiplier Aerial Armor Multiplier Building Multiplier MCT Multiplier
21 x2.5 x1 x1 x1 x1 x1 x1 x0.1 x0.4

Full damage will be inflicted only if the target body is struck completely by the bullet.

Higher Veterancy ranks will increase the base damage by a specified multiplier (applies only if the player is piloting the A-10; A-10 called via airstrikes will not be affected by player veterancy).

AGM-65 Missile

Base Damage Headshot Multiplier Kevlar Armor Multiplier Flak Armor Multiplier Lazarus Armor Multiplier Heavy Armor Multiplier Light Armor Multiplier Aerial Armor Multiplier Building Multiplier MCT Multiplier
200 x5 x1 x0.7 x1.1 x1 x1 x1 x0.05 x0.2

Full damage will be inflicted only if the target body is struck completely by the rocket.

Higher Veterancy ranks will increase the base damage by a specified multiplier (applies only if the player is piloting the A-10; A-10 called via airstrikes will not be affected by player veterancy).

Function

The A-10 Warthog is employed for quick airstrikes. An airstrike will call three of them that will perform a strafing run, sweeping the area designated by the binoculars first with cannon fire and then with its missiles.

Strategy

Usage

The airstrike can be aimed in front of the enemy vehicles, they will get struck by some hits even if they do not move forwards. Aiming the back of the enemy vehicles will assure the most hits from it, considering that they will probably retreat. A well-timed A-10 run can potentially take out Flame Tanks rushing and entering from a narrow vehicle entrance.

Calling an airstrike on the opponent base can kill defending infantry, players might evade one A-10 run but they may get struck by the second or the third strafing run. In addition, an airstrike just before a Superweapon Beacon is placed can potentially kill any infantry and destroy any vehicle that could take down the beacon cover.

A-10 Warthog's weapons deal high damage against infantry and vehicles, but they are not effective against buildings.

Counters

The A-10 Warthog cannot be shot down, so it is best to avoid its payload. A tiny green laser and an enemy player standing still is an indicator for an incoming airstrike, but they can be both difficult to spot. A warning appearing in form of message broadcasted will make players aware of the airstrike. Seek natural cover and retreat back to minimize the damage from the airstrike. If in the open, the most efficient way would be sprinting towards right to get out of the way, since only the last of the three A-10 will strike on the right of the designated location.

Trivia

  • The A-10 Warthog can be summoned and piloted via Console in skirmish matches. It is piloted akin to a jet, being unable to standing still.
